According to the EIA, US working gas in storage rose by 70 Bcf to 2,721 Bcf for the week ending June 26. Stocks are now 615 Bcf (29%) above last year, and 467 Bcf (21%) above the five year average. This is the highest storage level on record for this point in the year.
While still a significant injection into storage, the report was the first weekly injection 2009 that was less than the year ago and 5 year average comparisons. While this is supportive, it should be noted that extreme heat in the southern U.S. was partially responsible for the lower injection.
